Overview

MapReel ("we", "the app") is a map animation and video creation app developed by Sumit Pundir. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.

Data We Access

Location Data

MapReel accesses your device's location services only when you search for a place or pick a location on the map. Location data is used solely to convert coordinates to place names (geocoding) and is processed ephemerally. We do not store, track, or share your location data.

Photos

MapReel accesses your photo library only when you choose to upload a custom vehicle or model image. Selected photos are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to any server, except optionally to our background removal service for processing. No photos are shared with third parties.

Data We Do Not Collect

MapReel does not collect:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number)
• Account or login credentials
• Analytics or usage data
• Crash logs or diagnostics
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Financial information
• Contacts, calendar, or messages

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following services:

• Device Geocoding (Expo Location) — to convert coordinates to place names. Processed on-device or via the OS geocoding service.
• Background Removal API — optional, used only when you upload a custom vehicle image. The image is sent to our server for processing and the result is returned to your device.

Data Storage

All journey data, settings, and exported videos are stored locally on your device. We do not operate any cloud storage or user accounts.

Children's Privacy

MapReel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
